Article: Will CBD Make Me Fail a Drug Test?

Will CBD Make Me Fail a Drug Test?

Will CBD Make Me Fail a Drug Test?

The 2018 Farm Bill legalized hemp for industrial and commercial use, as well as to consume in all 50 states. This paved the way for different CBD products, but also for regulatory questions.

We have seen in previous blog posts that CBD stands for Cannabidiol, and it is a component present in hemp that may relieve pain and anxiety without getting you high. There are different kinds of CBD products, such as: oil, gummies, tablets, smokable products, and more.

However, hemp products that are considered “full spectrum” (like most of our products), contain trace amounts of THC (the legal amount of 0.3%THC). THC stands for Tetrahydrocannabinol, and it is the component in marijuana that makes consumers feel high. While the THC amount in hemp products is not enough to get you high or make you feel intoxicated, it could still be detected in a urine drug test.

In some cases, a single vaping incident can be enough to trigger a positive drug reading for marijuana.

Why Would I Consume Full Spectrum Then?

One reason many customers choose full spectrum hemp products is what is known as the “entourage effect,” in which the different cannabinoids present in the hemp plant will produce a more encapsulating benefit in your body than one cannabinoid alone.

Nonetheless, even single cannabinoid products (like THC-free or CBD isolate products) are good if sourced from a reputable farm.

Hemp-Derived CBD VS Cannabis-Derived CBD

Important: Your CBD oil can come from either the hemp or the marijuana (cannabis) plant. In North Carolina, only hemp-derived CBD oil is legal.

To further prevent a positive reading, make sure to choose a hemp-derived CBD oil like ours!

More Testing Options

The article “Pure CBD Won’t Make You Fail a Drug Test, But…” by Norton stresses the need for more accurate testing to differentiate between the two cannabinoids. Some prototypes are already being worked on.

This can prevent false-positives or unnecessary repercussions for people who use and need CBD to treat certain ailments. Accurate drug testing is also important in the criminal justice and addiction treatment areas.

Speak to Your Employer about CBD & Drug Testing

If you have recently used full spectrum hemp oil (CBD oil), and you are trying to get a new job, you may need to communicate this to your potential employer. Many people use CBD oil or tablets nowadays, so transparency is your best friend. They may be understanding unless they require a strict zero THC policy.

We hope you have a better understanding now of how CBD can affect drug testing so you can make the best decisions for yourself.

We are here to answer any and all of your questions.
